Care Ministries

First Prez Care Groups are a safe place to find support and offer support to others who are hurting. People who have been through, or are going through, a similar circumstance can do more than sympathize with you — they can relate to your situation, keep you from feeling like you are alone, and offer firsthand insight into your situation.

GriefShare is a 13-week, Christ-centered, biblically based support group seminar for people who have lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend through death. A grieving person can join an any time during the 13 weeks. Each session includes a video presentation, followed by small group discussion about the video.

The GriefShare videos present experts, ministers, and Christian counselors discussing grief and recovery subjects helpful to people in grief. Real people share their stories of what has helped them deal with the pain of the passing of a family member or friend. During the week between meetings, group members complete a daily Bible study and practical exercises to help them heal from grief.

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.

  • Is life more than you can handle alone right now?

  • Are your health, your attitude, or your relationships suffering?

  • Are you adjusting to a new job, a change in marital status, a serious illness, the death of a loved one, a recent move?

  • Would you like to have someone in your life who really cares?

Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to listen, to share God’s love with you can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing.

Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 PM, First Prez

Separation and divorce are among life’s most difficult and painful experiences. You need the help and encouragement of others as you attempt to heal and restore balance to your life. A DivorceCare group is a special place of encouragement, information and sharing. DivorceCare meets weekly for 13 weeks, providing you with an on-going support team as you deal with the issues surrounding your separation or divorce. Join the sessions at any time during the 13 weeks and feel free to attend more than one series.

There are two parts to each weekly DivorceCare session. During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, the group watches a videotape featuring top experts on divorce and recovery topics. These tapes contain valuable information about recovering from divorce and are produced in an interesting-to-watch TV magazine format. Following the video, the participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented on that week’s videotape and what is going on in the lives of the group participants.
