What is The Marriage Course?

The Marriage Course is a 7-week course developed in 1996 by Nicky and Sila Lee to provide practical support in strengthening marriages. Through seven sessions, the course will help you:

  • Understand each other’s needs

  • Communicate more effectively

  • Grow closer by learning methods to resolve conflict

  • Recover from the ways you may have hurt each other

  • Recognize how your upbringing affects your relationship

  • Improve relationships with parents and in-laws

  • Develop greater sexual intimacy

  • Discover each other’s “love language,” and much, much more.

HOW MUCH DOES THE COURSE cost?

  • There is a one-time cost of $15 per couple to purchase the Marriage Course manual.

  • The weekly dinner costs $16 per couple.

  • Free childcare provided for children aged 6 months–12 years. No meals are provided for the children, so please bring dinner/snacks for your children. There are limited space for childcare; please register early to confirm your childcare. It will be based on availability and approval.

Where and when will it be held?

  • Wednesdays (dates of the next Marriage Course will be posted at a later time)

  • 6:15 pm -8:30 pm

  • Fellowship Hall, First Prez Honolulu

What can we expect?

In the Marriage Course, you are seated at your own table for two. Each session consists of a meal, a practical video talk, and a time for private discussion between you and your spouse. Background music ensures that you can chat in complete privacy. You never share anything about your relationship with anyone other than your spouse. Here's the brochure with more information.

How do we sign up?

Online registration will open after we’ve finalized the dates of the next session. To register, you will need to create a user account (if you don’t have one yet). If you normally don’t attend First Prez, we still encourage you to create an account. Creating an account will require only your name, email address, and a password.

This course is revolutionary. Great teachers! They make us think about our relationship and do exercises to confront the issues we need to confront.

The best thing about this course is that it gave us the time to communicate with each other.
