Informational meeting: Sunday, May 18 at 1 pm in the
Kaneohe Room
“You’ll never be the same!” “It
is a life-changing experience.” “Now, when
I open God’s Book, it takes on a whole new dimension.” Those
are just a few of the comments from folks who have
travel to the Holy Land. In June 2009 Pastor David
Stoker will be hosting a church tour to the land of
the Bible. Also in June 2010 we will have a group visiting
the Oberammergau Passion Play in Germany. Come to our
informational meeting on May 18 to find out more about
the trips. Any questions: 532-1117 or david@fpchawaii.org.
Mexico
Mission “Stock" Sale
Are you looking for a place to make an investment
that will last for eternity? How about investing
in the High School Mexico Mission Trip to Miracle
Ranch in Ensenada, Mexico. You can invest in and
support the mission trip by buying shares of “stock" at
$25 per share. Being a share holder means you will
agree to pray for the youth going, contribute $25
towards the cost, and be invited to the “Share
Holders" meeting following the mission trip
to hear about all that God does during the mission.
Buying one share or more, maybe even fifty is a great
way to support this mission and help to defray part
of the $50,000 cost of the trip. And who knows whose
life will be changed for eternity because of your
investment. Stock is available at the Mexico table
on the Makai side.

GENERAL
INFORMATION
Chancel Flowers
Today's chancel flowers are given in loving memory
of Dr. and Mrs. William E. Phifer, Jr. by their three
sons: William E. Phifer, III of Los Angeles, The
Rev. Kenneth W. Phifer of Ann Arbor, and Robert W.
Phifer of Boston. Dr. Phifer was the senior founding
pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu
from 1959-1974. Today's flowers specially celebrate
the centennial year of Evelyn Phifer's birthdate
of June 11, 1908.
Roses on the Organ
Are in celebration of the births of: Emma Rose Patterson
(her parents are Joe & Debbie Patterson and her
grandparents are Bruce & Patty Patterson)
and Achilles John Weatherford (his parents are Brian & Tina
Weatherford; his grandparents are John & Debby
Weatherford; and his great grandparents are Stan & Roberta
Jones). Congratulations to all!
Are
You A Caregiver?
“Family, Friend or Neighbor who stands by those you love as they face chronic
illness, disability, or death. Caregivers are a diverse group of people of all
ages and from all walks of life - some new to caregiving, some just anticipating
becoming caregivers and others for whom providing care has become a way of life." FPC
is looking to strengthen its ministry to caregivers and help support your labor
of love. We need to identify those in our church family who would benefit from
an ongoing support group. Please stop by the Family Life table in the main entrance
and fill out a short survey form. You may also request a survey at the caregiverfoundation@yahoo.com.
If you have any questions, please contact Linda Roberts at 247-2899.
Welcome the Presbyterians
Our Presbytery of the Pacific is holding its meeting
here on May 17. All can attend and learn about our
denomination. Currently your help is needed to be
a host family (three nights only) and help with several
other activities. On Saturday night you can attend
Tihati Production’s Buffet Dinner and Show,
The Creation, at a reduced fee, while extending hospitality
to our mainland guests. Look for details and sign
up now at a table in the Ministry table area.
Use Caution on Kamehameha Hwy
The Honolulu Police Department is urging caution when
turning left off of Kamehameha Hwy onto Kionaole
Rd. Officers working traffic duty reported observing
several “near misses," which could have
resulted in severe injury or death. All drivers need
to use patience and caution when crossing the double
lane of oncoming traffic and remember that oncoming
cars are anticipating the traffic light directly
ahead and not cross lane traffic.
Flower Donation Sign-Ups
If you would like to commemorate a special occasion
or honor a loved one in 2008 by donating flowers
for our Sanctuary, please sign up on the Flower Chart
located on the large rolling bulletin board in the
foyer. The beautiful flowers on the chancel and around
the campus, are arranged by our own First Prez Flower
Team! Your donation will help brighten and beautify
our Sanctuary.
