FPC Golf Club
The First Presbyterian Church (FPC) Golf Club promotes fellowship within the FPC congregational community, provides an informal activity to invite friends to experience our fellowship, adds to our mission-giving program and hopefully improves our golf game skills with increased play.

Following is a list of questions with answers that may help you decide if you would like to participate in this exciting ministry with the PGA (Presbyterian Golf Adventure).

  1. Will the club be open to the entire congregation? Yes, men, women, members, non-members, tall, short, wide, narrow, good golfers, bad golfers, first time golfers. God loves a willing spirit.
  2. When, where and how often will the club play? We play at several different courses with times ranging from as early as 6:30 AM to as late as 12:15 PM. A complete schedule is posted below.
  3. Why should I consider joining the FPC Golf Club? Galatians 5;22-26 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), gentleness (kindness), goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (self-control), against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." What better way than to play a round of golf to measure your walk in the Spirit. Other reasons might include fun, fellowship, exercise, and a thankful heart while enjoying the outdoor wonder of God's magnificent creation around our beautiful island.
  4. Is there a cost to become a member? Yes, annual dues of $30 will be collected.
  5. Am I expected to attend all scheduled events? No. Currently we have 7+ tee times reserved for each scheduled date. Generally, the course allows 4-5 player per tee time. Golfers will be expected to commit at least a week in advance. Reservations will be first come first serve basis. Every effort will be made to accommodate everybody.
  6. What does it cost to play a round of golf? The courses selected range from the low $40’s to the low $50’s for green and cart fees. Golfers may be required to ride carts. An additional $10 is collected for the mission-giving program or what is referred to as our mission jackpot.
  7. What is the mission-giving program? FPC supports many mission outreach programs. Three of those programs will be selected and our club will give monies as designated by each months winning golfer. It may be designated “all to one” or “1/3 to each” or any other combination. Monies will be accumulated each month through December. At the end of the year each mission program will be presented a lump sum of their monetary gift accumulated through the year.
  8. How will winners be determined at each golf tournament? Gross scores will be recorded for each golfer at each event. A first time golfer will have their net score calculated using the Callaway scoring method. Golfers with one recorded round will have their net score calculated using the USGA handicap formula. Handicaps will be maintained using your best 5 scores in your last 10 rounds with the FPC Golf Club.
  9. Will there be maximum handicaps? Yes, women 38 and men 28. This simply means that if your scores average higher than the maximum, your handicap will be capped and recorded at the maximum.
  10. Can I bring guests? Yes, guests are encouraged. Guests are expected to contribute to our mission-giving fund. A guest will earn the right to allocate the mission jackpot monies if they have the low net score for the tournament.
  11. If my spouse or significant other and I join together and want to play in the same group, will that be allowed? Absolutely, in fact that will be the normal practice unless you ask for it to be otherwise. The same practice will be employed for guests to play with the person inviting them. In all other situations, it is one of our purposes to mix groups differently from month to month so we can get to know each other better and strengthen our fellowship.
  12. How and when do I sign up to become a member of the FPC Golf Club? You may contact any of the persons listed below and they will be excited to sign you up and collect your dues. Also watch for announcements in the bulletin, Nu Hou Lani and on the website.
