Membership & Baptism

NEWCOMERS (membership class)

WE’RE STILL WORKING ON THE date for the next newcomers class. THANKS FOR CHECKING BACK.

If you want to learn more about First Prez and possibly become a church member, Newcomers is for you. It’s also for those who want to transfer their membership from another church, those renewing or reactivating their membership, and those wanting to become an affiliate member.

Our pastors will lead the class and detail the vision for our church, important faith vignettes, and the amazing story of how First Prez moved to the Ko‘olau campus. Attending this class fulfills one of the requirements for becoming a new First Prez member (although you’re not obligated to join). It’s also your chance to get to know our pastors and other staff members, up close and personal. Come with questions and an open heart.

Please email aloha@fpchawaii.org if you have any questions or inquiries regarding membership.

BAPTISM—children & adults

Baptism is important to us because it is the mark of a new life in Jesus Christ. We do adult and children baptisms during any of our worship services on a Sunday morning, except on the first Sunday of the month (Communion Sunday). On occasion, we also do beach baptisms (dates and times vary depending on the availability of the pastors). There is no baptismal fee.

  • One does not have to be a First Prez member to be baptized but must promise to become a member of First Prez or another Christian church as soon as they are able.

  • All baptismal candidates will be referred to meet with a pastor for a pre-baptismal meeting, where they will understand that baptism is a declaration of their faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Teenagers wanting to be baptized need to understand that it is their commitment that they are making, not their parents’.

  • We believe in infant baptism. At least one of the parents of the child needs to be a Christian and belong to a Christian community.

After the baptism is scheduled and approved, baptismal candidate must:

  1. Schedule a pre-baptismal meeting with one of the pastors to learn more about baptism.

  2. Provide personal information for our church records.
