Ko‘olau Kids is safe and secure – Ko‘olau Kids provides a computerized check in system where parents are given a claim ticket to pick up their child. Digital Pagers are provided for parents of young children or children with special needs. All paid staff and volunteers have gone through a screening process where background clearances and references have been checked.
Special Friends for Special Children – All children matter to God and to us too! If your child has special needs we have a special needs coordinator and team who will adapt our program to help meet your child’s individual spiritual needs.
Wellness Policy – To eliminate the spreading of germs, please do not bring your child to the Ko’olau Kids Program if they have any known illnesses or visible signs of suspected illnesses such as: green mucus in eyes or nose, impetigo, chicken pox, fever, unexplained diarrhea, rash, vomiting, viral or bacterial infections or any contagious illness. If your child has been on antibiotics for more than 24 hours and is not contagious they are welcome to attend.
Infants & Nursing Mom’s – An Infant Room is provided on the upper level next to the sanctuary where you can still hear the worship service while meeting the needs of your infant.
Ko‘olau Kids Nursery Program (3 months - 24 months)
Our Nursery Caregivers recognize the importance of attachment and bonding for our youngest keiki (child) so consistency with the same caregiver is key. Our caregivers who have a passion for God and our babies serve on a weekly basis so that children may feel safe and secure.
Spiritual Development -The FPC Ko’olau Kids Nursery team shares God’s love w/ our babies by showing pictures of Jesus and their families, singing to them about God’s love and helping them to feel safe and loved during their first years of experiencing church.
Ko’olau Kids Toddler Program (24 months - 3 Years)
Our Toddler Caregivers recognize the importance of relationships between the volunteer and child and the need for toddlers to explore and experience their world through the use of their senses. Our volunteers are passionate about our Creator as well as the young ones He created.
Spiritual Development – The FPC Ko’olau Kids Toddler team shares God’s love w/ our toddlers by teaching them simple songs, Bible stories, activities and how to pray. Your toddler will begin to know who God is and that He loves them. The toddler classroom offers a consistent schedule with lots of repetition and interactive, hands on experiences.
What If my toddler cries when I drop them off? ? Our Toddler team won’t mind. Give your toddler a hug and tell them you will be back right after service is over. Assure them that they will be safe and to have a good time. Kiss them good bye and then leave. Caregivers will help your child become involved in the excitement of their classroom. Most children don’t want to leave when parents come to pick them up. If your child does not settle down after a few minutes you may be paged if this is your desire. You are welcome to come into the class to settle your child. But, don’t give up! Keep bringing your toddler each week so that they can feel comfortable.
Ko’olau Kids Preschool Program (3 years - 5 years)
Our Preschool Staff? recognize the importance of relationships and have a passion for young children and our God. They serve on a weekly basis so that your child will feel safe and secure during the school year.
Spiritual Development – Preschool age children learn by doing. Through praying together, hearing and acting out Bible stories, singing songs, creative movement and various activities your preschooler will discover that God and Jesus loves them and wants them to be kind, good and loving just like Jesus.
Home Connect – Each week your preschool age child will go home with a home connection tool called “Small Talk”. This tool is provided to parents so that they can reinforce the Bible Story and application at home.
Ko’olau Kids Elementary Program (Kindergarten - 6th Grade)
Our Elementary Staff recognize the importance of building relationships with our keiki (child) and have a passion for children and our God. They serve on a weekly basis during the school year so that your child will feel valued and loved.
Spiritual Development – Children will experience fun, active learning through singing, drama, games, object lessons and application time during consistent small groups and a large group experience. They will discover that the Bible is true and was written for us today. They will be able to recognize sin and understand that it separates us from God. Each week they are taught from scripture how to make the right choices and how to share our faith!
Home Connect – Each week your elementary child will bring home a Home Connection tool designed to help families to leave a spiritual legacy by talking about their faith. This tool will drive home the point that your child learned in Ko’olau Kids. It also helps your child get into the WORD each day and shows them how to apply it to their everyday lives so that they learn to live like Jesus.
