  • How to identify and use your spiritual gifts
  • How to handle money
  • How to share your faith
  • How to pray
  • How to know God’s will

LIFE TRAINING CLASSES beginning Jan 21 at the First Prez campus. Walk-ins welcome!

8:00 am CLASSES

Dates: Jan 21 to Mar 25

Facilitator: Brian Fila

Have you ever noticed that sometimes the stories of failure and tragedy in the lives of those around us begin like a National Transportation Safety Board report? “The pilot, lacking a night flying certification, took off at sunset…” We say to ourselves, “What were they thinking!” or “How did they get themselves into that situation?” Scripture is our most powerful tool to help us avoid falling into the trap of temptation and sin. Come join us as we discuss how to intentionally avoid the pitfalls and mistakes that are destroying the lives of so many around us. Add fireproofing to your life!

Brian is a Partner in Leader Development Network Global, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching leadership as modeled by Jesus. Brian lives in Kaneohe with his wife Beth and son Brenton.

Dates: Jan 21 to Mar 11

Facilitators: Steve and Linda Higashi, Stella Eccleston

God can seem distant when dreams fade, people die, or careers fail. It may feel like He slammed the door in your face and walked out for good. No one knows the feeling of abandonment more than Ruth and Naomi. Their story begins with the worst—death, famine, and poverty. And God remains silent. But the book of Ruth doesn’t end with despair. The story brims with hope because God works on behalf of the two widows in ways they least expect. On the surface, this book tells the story of two widows and a kind landowner. Even more, it teaches us about God’s faithfulness, love, and providence.

Steven is employed in a retail operation in Honolulu and serves on the board of Child Evangelism Fellowship. Linda is a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and a resource teacher in the Dept of Education. Stella is a retired IRS agent, tax law instructor, and five-year member of FPC.

JUST SHOW UP: a public reading of the Scriptures

Dates: Jan 21 to Mar 25

Facilitators: Michele Gorman, Patty Akina

For the first 40 minutes, we will read along and listen to beautifully recorded readings of the Bible, covering the Old and New Testaments. In the remaining time, we will break into groups and share our takeaways. Please bring a Bible, preferably the New King James Version so you can easily follow along with the WORD OF PROMISE recorded readings we’ll use. No prior knowledge of the Bible required; no homework either. JUST SHOW UP!

Michele is from London, England, and studied at PacRim College, Honolulu. She’s married to Rod, and they have four adult sons. Patty is the Director of Finance at Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She worked with Youth For Christ for 35 years in evangelism and discipleship.

In class, we will share what we discovered during our preparation time at home, ask questions, discuss how we interpreted the passage and spend time in meditation listening to the Spirit speak to us through the text studied.
