 July 16, 2017 08:00am

Life Ministries

We have two new classes starting soon:
July 16-Oct 8, Sundays, 9:30 am
Learn the how-to’s in developing a firm foundation in your Christian walk using your Bible and a workbook by Beth Jones. Led by Shelley Germain and Doug Stiles. Walk-ins welcome!
July 23-Aug 20, Sundays, 9:30 am, Makai Room
Learn how to develop your skills as a facilitator of learning. As lead learners, facilitators promote learning and dialogue to help others grow in their walk with Jesus. This course will help you understand the nature of how adults learn and how to support them from knowing, to commitment, and to action. If you’re a small group leader, a Life Training class teacher, or if you’re discipling someone, this class will sharpen your skills and broaden your reach. Instructors: Phyllis Unebasami and Pastor Steve Peich. Limited to 50 students. Register in the Fellowship Hall this Sunday morning.

The Life Training team is committed to helping all of us grow as followers of Jesus until we all come, “to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13). We’d like to invite you on this great adventure. Together we seek to grow in five important streams that are about holistically forming Christ in us. We want to grow in:

  • Theological Maturity - So that we will have the ability to work through beliefs in a skilled manner and to apply biblical knowledge in a godly manner to everyday living.
  • Spiritual Maturity - So that we will have the ability to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in all areas of life. We want to grow in our practice of the spiritual disciplines, including solitude, silence, prayer, meditation, and worship. We also want to develop our understanding and use of spiritual gifts and know how to disciple, spiritually guide, and be a good soul friend to others.
  • Missional Maturity - So that we will have the ability to perceive one’s self as part of God’s divine purpose to bring about the best in society. We want to learn how we can share the gospel with others, care for the poor, seek justice in the world, and care for God’s creation.
  • Relational Maturity - So that we will have the ability to create safe, secure, warm, open, honest, and vulnerable relationships. We want to know how to handle conflict well and to speak the truth in love, valuing and respecting those who hold different perspectives.
  • Emotional Maturity - So that we will have the ability to recognize, understand, and take responsibility for our emotions and have the ability to handle this awareness to correctly guide our behavior and relationships with wisdom and godliness.

We believe that by living into these ways of Christian maturity, we will increasingly see God’s Kingdom come, His will done, through us, as it is in Heaven.
May God continue to bless your efforts to learn more of Him and be like Him in every aspect of your life.
